This abstracted landscape captures depth & grandeur. I sketched a rough plan then dropped into my bliss, using a brush & my fingers, creating translucency & impasto.
• Medium: enamel, acrylic, and graphite on canvas
When I began Cresting Gold, I challenged myself to create a landscape with depth and grandeur, using limited detail and realism. I selected a neutral grey for my sky and then allowed myself only two colors to convey my landscape. I sketched a rough plan with graphite then dropped into my bliss. In this work, I love the canvas showing through and the pediments of my marks. There are moments of translucency and moments of impasto. I worked with brushes and my fingers to create my marks. All add together to create balance and serenity, even though Cresting Gold is taxicab yellow! When I create landscapes that are so abstracted, they can almost be seen as ocean waves or a figure in bedclothes. I love that it doesn’t matter what you see, just as long as it speaks to you. I like to incorporate the edges of the canvas into my art; this expands the work, giving the viewer a different perspective from each side. This painting is part of my Altitude Series: large mountain vistas. This abstraction allows for open interpretation, letting the viewer travel through space and time. I have signed this painting on the front, and the back contains the title, materials I used, my name, signature again, the year, and the dimensions.

Due to this painting's size, I offer three ways for you to receive your original art.
1. CRATE
It can be shipped in a wooden crate as it is. Additional shipping costs are associated with this option because of the size and weight of the packaging.
2. ROLLED IN A TUBE
It can be removed from the stretcher bars and rolled in a tube. This option is less expensive and will require a professional framer to restretch your painting for you.
3. LOCAL PICK-UP
I am happy to have you visit my studio to collect your new art.
