Commission custom work from this series. Although it looks black, each piece is hand built from layers and layers of artist mixed pigments in blues and green and rust: acrylic medium applied with a painter’s wedge. Final texture is leathered with raised elements of a spiral and divots. The “portal” is a mix of whites and colors and elements that float through the darkness are reminiscent of animal skins or scales. Deep Darks are commentary on the bleakness that humans have created, but balanced by the hope for light and nature breaking through.
