"Cinderlight." My Enchantments collection was painted in late summer of 2022 in Seattle, Washington. It was a summer that got started later than usual, and by the end of it, we were clouded with wildfire smoke.
This heavily influenced this collection: "Enchantments" was originally designed to capture magic, and light. As this collection grew, the wildfires obscured our sunsets and literally made it harder to see, to breathe. Smoke, in a sense, can also be enchanting, painting the skies a deep orange in the later summer haze.
"Cinderlight" has rich texture and a matte finish that captures the way air and smoke blend together, with the promise of blue skies once the rain comes.
I hope this piece serves as a reminder that blue skies are always there.
Cinderlight is an original abstract painting. Created with dozens of layers of transparent paint to form a deeply textured composition, this piece is inspired by the concept of enchantments and the colors of late summer. A one-of-a-kind original from my second collection.
