Meet the Creator

"Guto Indio da Costa was born in Rio de Janeiro and graduated Industrial Designer in Switzerland from the Art Center College of Design (E). Worked with Jacob Jensen Design in Denmark and Alexander Neumeister in Germany before establishing his own design studio in 1995.

Guto is one of the broadest brazilian designers of his generation, responsible for projects in many different fields with an extremely high level of complexity, many of which achieved great relevance, receiving several international awards including the IF Award, the Red Dot, the German Design Award, the Idea, the Good Design and the European Design Award among many others.

The blend of sensual and precise lines, recognizable style of the designer's work, is identified in the various products created, a wide catalog ranging from fans to gym equipment, from urban furniture to boats and vehicles. For Guto, design must be innovative: not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also from the way a product is used, manufactured and further discarded (recycled, reused or renewed).

Guto was a member of the Advisory Board of Design of the State of Rio de Janeiro from 2006 to 2018, co-founder of the Brazilian Design Association (Abedesign), has promoted several exhibitions and design events as well as been an active speaker and design promoter. He has been member of the jury in a wide variety of international design awards, specially the Red Dot Design Award to which he has contributed since 2011."
