The series ESCULTURAS–SIGNES began when I was also studying sculpture in Fine Arts and continues to this day. It tries to show the “profiles” of things, of people. Again, the “unconscious” relationship I establish with prehistory is evident. I work on the floor or on the wall, using wood or metal to create a language of abstract sign-sculpture. In this case, I tackle the profile of the back leg of a chair in my kitchen, an everyday element turned into an artistic studio.
This series is, for me, the most spiritual, the one that elevates the soul, the prayer towards the unknown, or at least, that’s how I feel. As Chillida used to say: “If you know the result the work is going to have, it no longer makes sense”, so, in general, I also follow this idea of working without knowing exactly where it will lead me. It’s a path always to be discovered.
