The Calabash is a sculptural lighting piece created from hundreds of individually hand-formed clay beads. Every bead is shaped, smoothed, and fired by women artisans in rural KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, resulting in a textured surface that feels organic, tactile, and unmistakably handmade. The beads are arranged to form the Calabash’s distinctive gourd-like silhouette, a modern interpretation of traditional African vessels.
