The Bruciata Tray is a hand-crafted wood object from the Raw Collection by Gabor Gobi, shaped from reclaimed barn beam wood that carries its years openly — in fissures, in grain, in the texture of timber that has lived a different life before this one. It is the most intimate piece in the collection: a surface for jewellery or small objects, scaled for close attention. Prominent cracks are filled with fragments from the same beam — continuity of material, not concealment.
The Raw Collection is made from what would otherwise be discarded — barn beams, stone offcuts, marble remnants. The Yakisugi technique prepares the wood surface; natural oils and beeswax seal it. Hand-carving follows the material's existing logic rather than imposing a new one. Nothing synthetic is used.
The result carries every stage of its making visibly: charred grain, filled fissures, the sealed warmth of beeswax over old timber. These are not flaws — they are the point. No two trays are identical in form, crack pattern, or surface character.
For a dressing table, desk, or bedside — for jewellery, keys, or whatever small objects deserve a considered place. Cork-lined base. Open edition; each piece is entirely its own.
