I make this bowl from smooth, dark clay that is naturally matte black. The edges near the top of the bowl are accentuated by irregularly carving them with a simple tool to create a contrast with the interior. The outside of the bowl is not glazed to keep the clay's natural texture. In contrast, the inside is glazed with a matte white glaze which, combined with black clay at a specific temperature, gives an exciting effect that changes to a golden-yellow color.
