The movies shown on theatre’s screen are images projected through light refraction from the projectors. Movies and light refraction are indispensable elements. Designers apply the concept of light and shadow on this design thoroughly. The first prominent feature is the logo wall on the left of the cinema lobby. Several rectangular plates made with pickled matt Rojo Alicante marble overlap each other in different directions, just like the form of light refraction. Stepping into the lobby, a lot of 3D rectangular installations made with copper metal are installed in the ceiling. They crisscross each other in different angles. Some of them even extend towards the floor. The height is not the same throughout the lobby because of the affection of the water pipes in the ceiling. These installations do not only correct this shortfall by diverting attention, but also create an illusion of a larger space. Together with the lighting effect, the wall, furniture and the flooring are glistening under reflection, as if the lights shine on the audiences in a movie shooting scene. Meanwhile, this cinema is situated in Shanghai Fosun Art Foundation with an art theme. These installations successfully bring the element of the building into the cinema.
There is a bold usage of pickled matt Rojo Alicante marble all over the ceiling, wall and floor in the lobby. The space is unique in the way that every marble has its own natural pattern.
