This autumn equinox painting features a coin toss. Day and night are perfectly halved at the equinox, like the two sides of a coin. On a shard of pottery, Demeter bids farewell to Persephone as she is stolen away for the winter. A young boy photographs the light passing through the Papua New Guinea sculpture garden, or is he photographing the sexy dancer? The Rasputin Music billboard perches in the sculpture garden, above some terracotta Persephones. A larger terracotta Persephone enters the viewer’s space as a small figure walks briskly into her arms. Sandhill cranes and butterflies migrate. Figures travel urgently in different directions, while others are in equipoise.

My art creates a feeling of interconnectedness and ambiguity so that we can experience the world a little differently.

I create abstract and representational oil paintings. I paint wet into wet and often mix colors on the canvas to blur the boundaries between objects. My intent is to create a feeling of interconnectedness and ambiguity so that we can experience the world a little differently. I also create charcoal from unique materials such as money, food, documents and plants. These materials have meanings that I can integrate into a drawing or painting.
