The Hashi is a black marble coffee table, a compact, self-contained table built around a single block of marble. There is nothing applied or ornamental about it, the form pared back so the marble carries the piece.
Kenya Black trades the softness of the paler stones for pure drama. A deep, near-total black is broken by pale veining that branches like the grain of ancient wood, and where the slabs are matched the pattern folds back on itself into something almost symmetrical. These tops are cut from natural stone, and no two of these black marble coffee tables are ever quite alike.
Beneath the top, the making is all economy. Two panels of the same marble meet perpendicular and lock together into a self-supporting cross-leg base, one slotting through the other, the join left in open view as the single detail the design allows itself.
As a black marble coffee table it holds a room quietly, as at ease in a living room as anywhere. The Hashi is an Italian coffee table made to order in Cantù, in Lombardy's long-established furniture district, drawn from a palette of full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass.
