Hand selected African Zebrawood veneer over 1" MDF core (on the doors since they are quite large and zebrawood hardwood banding custom made), Russian White Birch insides customized for this client's storage desires. This piece was made for a LOFT application so the end panels are also veneered and finished. 2" toe-kick (my go-to standard but could be any size). The hand pulls are quite unique and are also routed FROM THE BACK to give finger purchase inside of the opening you see and then I made zebrawood HARDWOOD backplates which are inset into the rear of the doors; this was a design element we wanted to do to have large vertical openings. Finished is a SATIN transparent over-coat and hand rubbed to 1000 grit. I did this in collaboration with someone I do a lot of work with https://www.instagram.com/stumpshed_living/

Wooden Imagination is a design-build workshop producing all styles of custom and selective off-the-shelf pieces as well as artistic and sculptural designs and various open/closed turned vessels

Mike Fister has been designing building furniture all of his life. After a long career in high tech, I concentrate mostly on furniture commissions, custom cabinetry, and explore a myriad of turned vessels and art objects. Operating from a dedicated commercial workshop, I prefer to design from concepts and use precious materials that can be hand finished (as opposed to painted material) and selected to allow the natural grain of the wood to incorporate into the objects. The collage above represents a very small cross-section ranging from musical instruments, natural slabs, turnings, and art nouveau. My furniture interests range from traditional to contemporary and incorporate mixed materials like glass and integrated lighting at all types of scale.
