As an encaustic artist, Shari Lyon loves to paint with beeswax and a torch! Encaustic has a depth and ethereal quality that is hard to adequately photograph. You will be even more in love when you get it in person!
This piece is created through a series of layering and building the color. Delicate accents of 24K and real metallic finish off the piece.

I paint with melted beeswax and fire!

Hi! I’m Shari Lyon and I’m an encaustic artist! Most people are not familiar with the word encaustic. It's painting with a specific mixture of beeswax and damar resin. I paint with molten wax and a torch. I also incorporate the use of pigments, oil paints, pan pastels, metal leaf, and drawings. The outcome is a dreamy, ethereal image with texture and appeal, unlike any other art form. You truly have to see encaustic works to really appreciate all they have to offer. Photos rarely do them justice.

I wish you could be in the studio with me! It smells divine!
