"I Love making ceramic that stand out and draw you in to explore the shapes, texture and colours."
Rosa Wiland Holmes
Winner of The Great Pottery Throw Down 2020
Former fashion designer Rosa Wiland Holmes was born in Copenhagen but lived on the small island of Bornholm with her sister, mother and sculptor Dad from the age of ten.
Rosa met her husband in London when she was doing an MA in Fashion in Denmark and moved to the UK to pursue a career as a ladies wear designer for high street brands.
When pregnant, she created her own children's clothing line inspired by English and Scandinavian design that she ran for five years.
Twelve years married she now has two children and is up early with the children to make breakfast and do the school runs. She loves walking and running in the local forest and looking after their pets including ducks, chickens and a rabbit. Most of her spare time is spent designing and creating ceramic art in her home studio, managing to squeeze in time for the household chores.
Rosa’s passion for clay started around 5 years ago when she did a taster class at Westminster adult education centre in London. She moved to the countryside not long after and decided to convert one of her rooms into a pottery space. Practicing almost every day, Rosa likes to make the most of her countryside haven and runs local pottery courses from home.
