Nicole Pietrantoni Studio

Girona, Spain

"Transforming the rush of digital life into something slow, tactile, and luminous."
Nicole Pietrantoni is an internationally exhibited artist with over twenty years of practice. Working at the intersection of printmaking, photography, and the artist's book, Pietrantoni transforms archives of digital images — gradients, glitches, photographic fragments of land and sea — into large-scale sculptural accordion books and wall-mounted installations that pulse with color and light.

As a former book arts professor, Nicole has spent decades thinking about what it means to make something by hand — and her sculptures carry that knowledge in every fold, every printed surface, every carefully bound edge. Her signature accordion form borrows from the history of bookmaking and reimagines it as a way of storing not just images but memory, landscape, and the tension between the natural world and the digital one.

Her work begins on a screen and ends on your wall — casting shadows, catching light, shifting as you move around it. Up close it is lush and photographic. From a distance it dissolves into pure pattern and color.

Nicole currently lives and works in Girona, Spain, where the landscape and sea inspire her work.
