I have been in the furniture world almost my whole career and it has always been a passion to design quality furniture that is different from the mass produced, disposable furniture that floods the markets today. I started Modwerks Furniture Design to have a commitment to sustainability and be eco-friendly. It is the clear path forward these days. I am committed to making quality pieces that people will love and be durable enough to last a long time. This fulfills goal number one: Keep it out of the landfill! For instance, a walnut tree becomes mature in 60 to 80 years, so when it is harvested, another tree will not replace it for about that long. To be sustainable then, it should last at least that long. Today's cheaper pieces are made to be disposed and just not last very long. A nice piece of furniture can last as long as the tree, but it also needs to look good with minimal effort. Our process uses solid woods instead of veneers or mdfs and we also use natural finishes. This keeps it looking great and makes it easy to refinish if needed. A scratch or stain can be easily fixed and since it is solid wood it can even be sanded and look brand new again! We want it it look great, and be easy to look great for a very long time!
