Q&A

What do you want people to do or feel when they encounter your creations?

"People often walk into my studio and say they want a whole wall covered with my wall hangings. I think they appreciate the feeling of how intricate the hangings can feel all together and how fragile they are. With the lighting I make I want people to appreciate the history of ceramics by using vintage inspired materials and glazes but also recognize the playful modern twist that my work can evoke."

Q&A

What’s unique about your work?

"The cutouts from the lamps are repurposed by being cleaned, cutting holes, and sometime minimal decoration to create the wall hangings. The designs of the wall hangings are made with what parts I have available in the studio. The part shapes are very simple but the pieces can sometimes get very complicated. I use balance to keep them cohesive, delicate, and interesting."

Q&A

How do your pieces come to life? Tell us one interesting thing about your creative process?

"I never use sketches or rendering… it never works for me to recreate a sketch. I have to have the piece (ceramic pendant) in front of me to decide on the scale and spacing of the cutouts. Once suspended they often take on a different look and feel since the parts move."
