Q&A

How do your pieces come to life? Tell us one interesting thing about your creative process?

"I usually work on an entire body of work at once. In a given day I may work on 6 or 7 pieces. I might work on one piece for an hour, another piece for 15 minutes, and another piece for 2 or 3 hours, and so on. When I go into the studio time disappears. I forget to eat, I even forget go to the bathroom. I usually work for long periods of time, hours, until I realize that I'm starving and exhausted. And need to go to the bathroom."

What funny moments, unexpected surprises, or obstacles have you encountered?

"One day my dealer called me and said, "There's a woman at the gallery and she's dancing in front of one of your paintings. She wants to know if I can give her your number. Is it OK?" "Sure." I said. We met and wound up falling crazy in love with each other."
