Contemporary Metal Sculpture

David Mills is a contemporary mixed media artist and sculptor working out of Austin, Texas. He gets his inspiration from the underlying order of nature. Primarily the ubiquity of vibration and its importance as the unifying thread connecting every thing and every one. With a background in painting and design, David taught himself metal fabrication under the guidance of several apprenticeships and workshops much as he had pieced together the rest of his art capacity. He built his aptitude a’ la carte at several East Coast universities including The University of Maryland and The Corcoran School of art. His experience includes teaching art to university students, commissioning large scale murals and installations as well as establishing a successful design company. He has many collectors around the world and has had several gallery representations throughout the United States. David has been working as a studio fine artist since before moving to Texas from Washington, DC in 2011. Mills works with a myriad materials from metal and wood to record covers, found objects and anything else that he thinks would help him convey his story. The works are modern, minimalist and contemporary originating from his interest in science, math, physics and astronomy. Sine waves and mathematical representations of frequencies are thematic in his latest works. David’s work explores the relationship between man and nature via shared vibrational frequencies.
