This mural was in partnership with Attitudinal Healing Connection, Westlake Middle School Village, the City of Oakland and Caltrans. The Lead Artist was Senay Dennis (Refa) , the Lead Director: David Burke and the team of artists included Lindsey Millikan (Milli), Sydney Cain (Sage), avier Racabado, Daniel Panko, Dorias Flagg, Helen Bayley, Keena Romano, Vanessa Espinoza (Agana), Dawood Marion and Duane Deterville.
The series of Super Heroes Murals involve AHC teaching a course to school children in which they begin to envision themselves as super heroes. They identify fears and problems in their community and write stories in how super heroes could address them. The kids then meet with the Lead Artist who designs with them and creates a visual representation based on this collaboration. The mural team then completes the mural with the Lead Artist and Lead Director followed by a huge ribbon cutting ceremony where the kids can see their vision realized.
