The Cello Musician was inspired by a friend’s daughter who squeezed her over sized instrument into our VW bug for a twice a week neighborhood car pool, to get to high school and her music classes. This piece explores the strong relationship between a musician and her instrument and was also influenced by a musician playing in the studio and describing her musical experiences to the artist. Both the cello and the figure are abstracted using geometric planes to express and convey the sense of balance between the rhythm and elegance needed to play the cello.

""Dina Angel-Wing has focused on creating three-dimensional art that appeals to different senses. Her sculpture aims at a visual experience that is both aesthetic and intellectually engaging, it can be representative, symbolic, or humorous while juxtaposing soft curvilinear figures with architectonic stands that contrasts rough weathered steel with smooth bronze.

Her portraits interpret a sense of the person while capturing a lively personality from life sketching or researching old photographs and interviews, with the final cast in bronze."
