BMX along with skateboarding was counter-culture sports that were banned from public spaces for nearly three decades and are finally getting acknowledged and financed by cities across the nation. Tanner Park and I Street were renegade spots that helped birth 9-Line. I’m thankful for my friend Nole Walkingshaw for working with the city to create this public park for adults and kids to ride while including the two other parks into SLC Parks and Public Lands initiative. Shout out to Chris and the crew for putting in the work of maintenance and SLC Arts Council for adding some color to the landscape. A fellow artist and friend PAPERCAKE! will be completing the drop in illustrations this month as well so drive by and check out the progress. Thanks for the assistance Dave Doman and Nicole Butterfield for this visit on this one.

This is what I’ve learned in four years of not knowing what I’m doing: Be kind, be brave. That’s my mantra. The thing I think helps me so I can go and create, is being kind. And when life is hard, because it will certainly be hard, you have to be brave. Be brave when you’re terrified, take a deep breath. It’s going to be okay.
