A series inspired by the textures in nature. Melissa transposed this texture into abstract works of art using modelling paste and natural inks. Melissa hand crafted walnut hulls into ink and then mindfully mixed the ink into modeling paste. She used a palette knife to apply the modelling paste and then added handwoven artisanal textile remnants. These leftover textile pieces are given to Melissa by a local shop called Rug & Weave. Melissa then repurposes the textiles into truly unique pieces of art.
