Giles Miller continues to explore themes surrounding light, reflection and balance with these etched metal artworks in both stainless steel and brass finish. Thousands of tiny components lean in opposing directions, drawn like flowers towards sunlight, to illustrate subtle gradients of tonal variation.

These themes are consistent within the wider body of Giles Miller’s work, with material compositions depicting opposing tones as well as varying opacity within surface and sculptural installations. In particular these artworks hold strong symmetry with the studios Penny-Half Sphere (2016) and the Paper Artworks (2019).

Giles Miller is a composer of material. The studio is interested in light, reflection, texture and the manipulation of these elements in order to create subtle and functional artworks.

Giles Miller is a British designer, artist and creative whose work spans surface, architectural and sculptural projects. His eponymous and award-winning studio was set up in 2011 and produces projects for clients globally.

Giles flunked a degree in Business Management before starting a Furniture Design course. He went on to graduate with a Masters in Design Products from London’s Royal College of Art, and has since created acclaimed and award-winning work for some of the world’s most prestigious brand-names across a variety of industries. Notable clients include BBC Studios, British Airways, Hermes, Harrods, Tiffany & Co and Omega Watches.

The characteristic Giles Miller Studio aesthetic comes from the fusion of technology with the handmade, primarily in the medium of sculptural surface design. In each discipline the studio brings new meaning to spaces by celebrating the relationship between materials and light.
