This beautiful lighting fixture is designed in the style of lanterns found in Japanese Shinto Shrines.
Painstakingly crafted, using highly figured American cherry wood and finished with 7 coats of hand rubbed lacquer.
The light panels feature handmade Japanese paper (Washi) mounted on Plexiglas.
This technique adds durability and the panels are actually integrated into the structure of the lantern for strength.
This lantern will cast a warm inviting glow using just a single 110 volt 25-watt LED light bulb that lasts up to 25 years. (The bulb is accessible through a hatch in the bottom of the lantern.)
Dimensions are roughly 12"x 12" wide x 12" high.
I proudly make the lanterns one at a time, in my one person wood shop from the finest materials available.
