'Forked Channel, 1', 2024
This piece is made from a single driftwood piece gathered from the Sacandaga River in Upstate New York. It's a light toned softwood piece, with unexpected solidity to it. The carved channels and ridges are revealed best in side light. The hidden wire ‘stitching’ forming the hanger is done using century-old wire gathered from the field lines of my farmstead.
The rust of the antique wire and character of history blends well with the driftwood. It is done by hand, with heart. The driftwood has gone through my usual process of carving, sanding and burnishing, while still leaving natural, raw details. The surface is finished by hand burnishing only.
Measures approx. 30” x 7” x 5”. A loop hanger is on back.

• These pieces are all one of a kind and completely done by myself, from collecting the driftwood in Upstate New York, to carving, sanding, burnishing, wiring, and lastly packing it up to ship to you!
