Quiet Riot is a large mixed media wall sculpture. The solid American cherry hardwood panel was repurposed from a 60 year old wood dining room table. Layers of MDF panels are then laid over top of the cherry to create dimension and movement. This piece was inspired by mid-century modern design in both color and form. The bright orange, peach, chocolate brown and greens combine with the natural cherry wood grain to suggest the time period. The juxtaposed angles and colors create a surprising sense of both movement and calm. As to the name, Quiet Riot, while there is a lot going on in this piece, it somehow has a zen like effect in the room. Like the eye of a storm.
