Q&A

How does the design of your space (or an element of the design) impact the experiences people have there?

"The space is flooded with natural light as we have floor to ceiling glass across the width of the premises. The combination of exposed concrete, wood floor, soft furniture— such as our refurbished Ercol sofas and modernist dining furniture —creates an uplifting yet calm and relaxed experience for our customers"
Q&A

What is the interior design style of your space?

"Brutalist exposed concrete with modernist/scandi design"
Q&A

What Custom/Original Element do your guests notice most often? What do they say about it?

"We designed the space so that the exposed concrete— with its original features such as the light switch boxes —and various imperfections is a feature. People love both the history it embodies and comment on how warm and beautiful it is."
Q&A

What was the biggest source of inspiration?

"Our iconic building. Park Hill Flats is the largest listed building in Europe in the centre of Sheffield."
Q&A

Who did you love working with on this space? Any memorable moments or unique craftsmen?

"We loved working with Lee from lifeforms design – we made a great team bringing different perspectives to the same vision always sharing and developing exciting ideas about the space. It was great to work with David Village, a Sheffield independent lighting designer, who totally understood our vision too.

There were two very different memorable moments. One, hanging the combination of different sized lights which were suspended between the two floors with lots of "up a bit" "left a bit." The other, carrying in extremely heavy glass balustrade pieces across snow and ice two weeks before opening— only to find that three had been manufactured to the wrong dimensions!"
