Like the original Beatnik in West Town, Bonhomme Hospitality’s Beatnik On The River takes guests on a journey, drawing inspiration from the Beat Generation of 1950s and ’60s and the bohemian freethinkers who followed in their path. At the Loop location, the globetrotting dishes and cocktails, and boho-chic interior are further enhanced with breathtaking views of Wacker Drive, Merchandise Mart and the South Branch of the Chicago River located next to it. In July 2018, BOTR debuted its 80-seat riverfront patio filled with Indonesian daybeds, Moroccan lanterns and lush greenery. A year later, the interior area was unveiled transforming the previous sign store into an otherworldly space by means of the 1913 Nashville jewelry shop installed inside it. Out front, an expansive weather-permitting patio echoes the Morocco-meets-Bali vibe. Mirroring the restaurant’s design aesthetic, Executive Chef Marcos Campos’s cuisine takes a global approach, melding ingredients from around the world. Bold flavors, original combinations and creative presentations are hallmarks of Campos’ culinary style and are reflected in his seasonally changing lunch, dinner and brunch menus. Cocktails are inventive and colorful, often finding inspiration in ingredients from the kitchen, creating a harmonious relationship between what’s being served on the plates and in the glasses. Exotic garnishes follow a no-waste sensibility utilizing ingredients found in the cocktails they adorn.
