“I wanted to show that the root of everything that we do is Moroccan,” he says. “You are uprooting something that’s old and traditional, examining it and looking at it in a new light.”
Located at 140 New Montgomery in the newly renovated PacBell Building, Mourad features authentic Moroccan designs. That starts at the door of this Michelin-starred restaurant, where chef-owner Mourad Lahlou has placed a massive cross section of a century-old tree root.
