Located in the heart of the Mission District, this trendy cocktail spot is the baby of hotshot Bay Area bartending trio Ryan Fitzgerald, Erik Reichborn-Kjennerud and Todd Smith. Fitzgerald served time at Beretta; Reichborn-Kjennerud owns Dalva; while Smith is a Bourbon & Branch alum.
So it’s no surprise that their 16-drink menu is an inspired work of creativity, organized by spirit with many of the recipes drawn from other top San Francisco bartenders or with some other San Fran connection. There’s lots to like here, but the Lefty's Fizz stands out, a smoky concoction of mezcal, lime, grapefruit shrub, dry Curaçao, and egg white, while the Whiskey in Church is a rich complex drink, blending Scotch with oloroso sherry, maple and smoked pear bitters.
Tasty snacks like bunh mi, mapo sloppy joes and falafel lamb dogs round out the picture in this spacious room, handsomly decorated with a bold black-and-white mural on one wall, age-burnished mirrors, and long communal tables at which to perch with your drink.
