The Independent Lodging Congress is a place of discovery, collaboration, and idea generation for owners and operators of independent hotels. With an eye for design and independent approach to all things hospitality, the ILC asked Wescover Creators to set the stage for ILC 2019 in the iconic Ace Hotel Theater.
The space itself has a creative history dating back to Hollywood’s Golden Age. In 1927, a group of iconoclasts opened the United Artists studio and theater. Over the years, the theater changed ownership a number of times but remained true to its initial ethos of serving as an indie production house outside of the already known neighborhood of Hollywood until 1989. In 2014, Ace re-opened the historic theater’s doors after an impressive restoration. Today it welcomes rock and roll icons, large-scale concerts, movie premieres and other cultural events.
Once styled by Cuffhome in collaboration with Bradley Duncan Studio and Lawson Fenning, the re-invented space is altogether fitting for the world's top hoteliers. The team of LA-based makers were tasked with creating a Modern aesthetic that gives a hint of classic cinematic glamour. They've curated original furniture and accessories for the experience that set the tone on this remarkable stage.
“We find the independent hotel and retreat businesses fascinating as much of the early awareness and ultimate success relies on design and therefore, there is exuberant innovation and creativity in these smaller, more intimate establishments,” said Kristi Bender, Cuffhome. “We are thrilled to have the opportunity to create design vignettes at the Ace Theatre, and to showcase many pieces from our individual collections.”
