The final piece in the Terminus series, this painting looks down into the Gulch — the sunken rail corridor beneath downtown Atlanta that gives the district its name, and the very site where the city was first founded as a railroad terminus in 1837. A weathered rust-red, teal, and cream cluster of warehouse buildings rises behind an active freight train, its ochre boxcar and black locomotive cutting a hard diagonal across the composition. Framed above and below by a quilted patchwork of muted color blocks — echoing the Cradled Wrap Series' visual language — the piece closes the Terminus cycle by showing the one thing that's never stopped since 1837: the railroad still running through the ground the city was built on.
