Strata in Verdigris is a handmade wall sculpture of stacked, layered ledges - bands of shifting relief that read like sedimentary rock, or a cliff face worn back to its layers. Each form is carved and cast by hand in the Boldstone studio in Bath, England, then finished with a hand-applied faux verdigris patina, so the surface shifts from deep sea-green in the recesses to a pale chalky turquoise along the raised edges. Because the patina is worked by hand, no two pieces take the finish in quite the same way.
Cast gypsum composite with a hand-applied faux verdigris finish. Measures 30 x 30 x 6 cm and weighs 4 kg, hanging flush to the wall and arriving ready to hang. The square format suits a hallway, stairwell, bathroom or a quiet wall in a living room, and the piece groups beautifully with other sculptures in the range for a larger installation.
