An abstracted study of Spanish-style buildings in Sarasota, Florida — a city whose architectural identity was shaped in the 1920s Florida land boom by developers chasing the romance of Mediterranean and Spanish Colonial revival. The composition stacks weathered stucco forms in golden ochre, rust orange, and chalky white against a mottled sky-blue ground, with arched windows echoing the city's signature style. Grounded in a place with real personal history — this is where I studied art at Ringling College — the painting favors flattened geometry and warm color harmony over architectural literalism, in keeping with the rest of the series.
