Nemoral Peak is a sculptural work that evokes a remote mountain summit, an ancient wilderness rising from the depths of the forest.
Collected following forestry pruning in the canton of Vaud, Switzerland, this fragment of bark caught my attention for its rugged silhouette, intricate textures and patches of moss that seem to reclaim its surface. Its jagged peaks and layered formations resemble a miniature mountain range, a forgotten highland shaped by the slow forces of time.
The contrast between the earthy reds and browns of the bark and the vivid greens of the moss creates the impression of a living landscape suspended between decay and renewal. The piece seems to hold the memory of a wild, untouched place — a territory where nature follows its own rhythms, beyond the reach of human intervention.
Preserved in its original form, Nemoral Peak invites the viewer to discover an entire landscape within a single fragment of a tree, where the boundaries between forest, mountain and sculpture begin to dissolve.
