Handwoven Kente cloth designed by Ateljé Rouge and woven to order by weavers in Ghana. Each length is woven by hand in narrow strips, then joined into cloth. Threads are a blend of cotton, silk, rayon and metallic thread.

Choose from a studio design, request your own colours and motifs, or commission a design from scratch for your project.

Sold by the yard. Minimum order 2 yards, up to 12 yards.
Lead time: 8 to 16 weeks. Longer if more than 12 yards are needed.

Ateljé Rouge is a Toronto-based design studio. Each piece starts as a drawing or sketch and is developed into prints, textiles and woven cloth, particularly Kente, designed and produced to commission. Every Kente piece is woven by hand, carrying forward the ancestral traditions behind it and preserving the value of human touch. Ateljé Rouge draws on a life lived across West Africa, the Nordics and North America. Pieces are made in small runs or to order, and commissions for homes and commercial spaces are welcome.
