“Dee Clements is an artist, designer and entrepreneur. Her practice spans soft product design, craft and art. While she is the founder and creative director of Studio Herron, she identifies as an artist that uses weaving as a way to investigate wellbeing and meaning in the realm of the domestic. Clements views textiles as an ever changing and flexible way to interrogate the emotional side of soft objects. In a hard, technologically advanced world where anything and everything is accessible at the push of a button from a screen, she aims to slow down and create work with a tactile and sensory experience, one that invites comfort and joy while examining the human imprint in both the utilitarian and the aesthetic.
Clements is a process based artist who has a deep love of and interest in materials, ideas, invention and experimentation. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Fiber and Materials Studies and Sculpture from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago.
Clements has exhibited her work in showrooms and galleries internationally and has presented textile collection as Studio Herron at the ICFF show in New York and NeoCon in Chicago.”
