“Steve Farley is a visionary, motivational, highly entrepreneurial leader who in addition to being an award-winning artist is also an Arizona State Senator. He is a professional photographer and public artist with a national reputation for his digital photography and community-building large-scale tile murals.
Steve is also the public artist who invented a way to convert photographs into glazed ceramic tile murals using a process called Tilography.
Tilography is an artform invented by public artist Stephen Farley with tile fabricators Rick Young and Tom Galloway to translate photography to permanent, vandal-proof, weather-resistant glazed ceramic tile that is fascinating up close and from a distance.Since 1998, Tilography murals have graced public spaces all over the U.S., including Stephen Farley’s award-winning Broadway Underpass murals in Downtown Tucson, Arizona.
Steve Farley received his BA from Williams College in Wiliamstown, MA. Farley has completed numerous public commisions including two stations for the Phoenix, Arizona Light Rail; Gardner Community Center, San Jose, CA and the Broward County West Governmental Center, Broward County, FL. Farley serves in the Arizona State House of Representatives and is a Board member for Arizona Action for the Arts. He maintains a studio in Tucson, AZ. “
