"My goal is to remind people of the mystique of the humans and environments that surround us in a way that is digestible, moving, and universal."
Sam Jacobson is the creative talent behind Sapira Design. Born to a Jewish-American father from Philadelphia and a mother born and raised in the suburbs of London, Sam spent most of her time in grade school telling anyone who asked that she was "going to grow up to be an artist". She moved to New York City at 18 to attend Marymount Manhattan College where she received a B.A. in Theater Arts with a concentration in Costume Design. She stayed in New York for eight years, living the freelance designer life and enjoying the rich culture the city has to offer until 2016 when she flew south to build a life as a creative entrepreneur in Austin, Texas. Her time in Texas has been spent developing her artistic practice, rapidly building a multidisciplinary portfolio with a heavy emphasis on murals. Sam's work focuses on the human (and often times female) experience as well as our juxtaposition to the natural world. Do we affect our environment, or do our environments effect us? When her hands aren't mixed up in a frenzy of art supplies Sam enjoys gardening, exercising, DIY-ing, adventuring in Austin with her partner and their dog Kuma, and exploring the world.
