Self-taught, San Diego based painter born into a long line of artists, Rhea is the pinnacle of creativity. Rhea's unique approach to the medium is based in abstract expressionism, a theoretical approach founded on the premise that an artist shares their personality through spontaneity. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Adolph Gottlieb, and Jean Debuffe, Ashcraft has cultivated her own artistic process. These influences have greatly shaped her distinct style. Rhea's techniques include layering, color therapy, affixing textures, adding then taking off.
About Her Work The spontaneity and freedom of abstract expressionism have brought great depth and boldness to Rhea's work. Every piece created by the artist will leave an impression on even the casual observer, and an emotional or energetic imprint on the more notable buyer. These effects are an accidental gift, resulting from the natural energetic flow Rhea brings to her work.
The artist believes her work (and all art) to be a living, breathing meditation: Living Art | Art for Life. Her vision is to "enhance your space" by filling your home only with those things you love - like art - because it has a domino effect drawing good energy into your life.
"I really found myself through my art, because it allowed me to make mistakes and be who I am. It allowed me to be a businesswoman, and allowed me to bring others happiness."
