La Loupe Design

Baltimore, MD

"We create modern luminaries and home decor objects intersecting contemporary design and traditional crafts."
La Loupe has its origins in Buenos Aires, Argentina when Jorgelina Lopez, in 2014 after graduating as a Textile Designer, started exploring fiber to create tridimensional objects, experimenting with sculptural pieces and prototyping some ideas for a lighting collection.

In 2015, she relocated to Baltimore, USA. In 2016 she continued pursuing this first idea that she had in Bs. As. in collaboration with her partner and husband Marco Duenas, a cross-disciplinary artist. In 2017 La Loupe design was founded and the couple began to work on their first lighting collection.

Influenced by 20th-century art and design movements, geometric forms and clean lines are reflected in the pieces they craft. La Loupe Design collections are inspired by the process of working with traditional craft techniques and exploring the intersection of functional and artistic pieces.

The name La Loupe (loupe / lüp/: small magnifying glass) represents this process of exploration and discovery, a symbol of observation and visual attention that they bring to their designs.

From idea to design, from production to packaging, each piece is handcrafted by Marco and Jorgelina. Bringing a creative idea to life and being personally involved in each step of the process is a practice that drives and connects them with the objects they make.

Through their work, they aim to create timeless, innovative, and finely handmade pieces finding the beautiful balance between craft, art, and design.
