"Julie Colquitt's textile sculptures are not textile sculptures. They are textile installations through time. An installation moment. Could be today, next week. It could be a presently made piece of the sculpture installed into a past piece. They grow through time like adding layers of oils to a canvas."Julie Colquitt lives in St Andrews, Scotland. She is a textile artist working with wool, rusty metal and Indian handspun silk. She also has a multinational ethical yarn company where she works directly with women in India producing yarns out of silk waste left over from sari manufacturing. With her travels to India she also supports their local schools and funding. On occasion she can be found making yarn alongside them working with their traditional tools! Hands! She has also appeared in Wallpaper*Julie likes to challenge the traditional space adding a creative and contemporary presence. Whether it's a bar, hotel, restaurant or home a wall MUST be compelling!
