Grethe Meyer Design

Copenhagen, Denmark

"Tableware - foreverware"
Grethe Meyer (1918-2008) was an architect and designer, and one of the most recognized representatives of Danish industrial design for which she won numerous awards.
She was a pioneer and has had great impact in the Danish Designs history by aesthetically simple, timeless and functional designs that have become classics – even to this day.
Grethe Meyer is most famous for the faience dinnerware Blåkant, the porcelain dinnerware Hvidpot and the stoneware dinner set Ildpot, which for many years were great successes for Royal Copenhagen together with the steel cutlery Copenhagen for Georg Jensen.
Grethe Meyer's design accommodates quality, personality and respect for the user; she wanted it to be simple and anonymous, but a daily joy for those who use it.
