My name is Danielle Garza and I also go by the moniker “Ellierex.” I am a Los Angeles-based mixed media / installation artist, and an avid practitioner of the art of paper marbling. My printmaking process involves capturing swirled, kaleidoscopic colors and intricately designed patterns painted from an aqueous surface then transferred onto paper. I combine traditional marbling methods with my own innovative and meditative techniques, utilizing the concepts of intuitive or automatic painting. The “flow” within my work creates a space where a viewer’s mind can truly wander. They are enticed to get up close and personal feeling immersed by the work, as I have, with a contemplative or escapist experience.
Often times I will transform my works on paper to large-scale murals and installation commissions, and on occasion I will incorporate collage or other mixed media into my designs. The end result depicts surrealist dream-worlds- encouraging peace, self-care, mindfulness and harmony within all creatures and the planet.
In the past two years I have completed commissions of two 3-D collage murals for the San Francisco offices of Facebook, a public art vehicle bus wrap for The City of West Hollywood, and an 11-room public art installation series for Hong Kong Times Square. In early 2020 I will complete a mural for American Express’ Centurion Lounge in the new international terminal of LAX. Among my other creative achievements are large-scale installations for music festivals, album covers for recording artists, print design for film/television, and exhibitions throughout galleries across the U.S. I have artworks for private collections within several U.S. cities, and internationally within Sweden and Australia.
