I am Chrissa, an architect and a graphic designer who fell in love with clay. Every piece you see in my shop is handmade and designed by me, in my studio in a small village in Crete.
I studied Architecture and currently studying for a master’s degree in Graphic Arts & Multimedia. While working as an architect, I started taking a ceramics class run by “The Centre for the Study of Modern Pottery” in Athens. It was there that I discovered how working with clay needed to play a big part in my life.
I love the ritual of turning mud into works of art, that are functional and accessible to people in their everyday lives. I create forms with or without a pottery wheel, using my hands, and simple tools. Due to the handmade nature, slight variations and imperfections create one of a kind items, each one with its own character. The rich diversity of Cretan scenery, the sea, mountains, and Greek culture are my inspiration.
