Art by KVK

Scottsdale, AZ

For over twenty-one years I am happy to say I have been quite successful in sharing my artistic talents. At an early age, patterns, color, texture, design, and intriguing subject matter became my inspiration and I continue to incorporate all of these elements in my work today. My natural talent that emerged at this young age-progressed over time as I received my bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Arizona State University and catered professionally to high-end residential and corporate markets in both Arizona and California. My art and story have been featured on television and in magazines such as Phoenix Home and Garden and So Scottsdale. I have had the privilege to do custom artwork and murals for well-known celebrities and large corporations including Google, Pulte, Del Webb. I have also had the opportunity to facilitate the restoration of the 1926 Historic Civic Plaza in downtown Phoenix.
I am most recognized for doing large originals in my own mixed-media/collage style that can generally only be seen at public and private exhibitions and auctions. In addition, I make my past, present, and future pieces available as affordable, limited edition giclee in all sizes and printed on different mediums. Each piece is unique and original in its own right because I personally embellish, sign, and number each giclee that is ordered from me or my website.
My work can be displayed beautifully in many settings because my subject matter and designs cover a wide range to suit many decorative purposes. In my pieces, I include repurposed materials which usually involve an actual envelope, a bird image, and many other charming collaged articles that create everlasting interest and symbolic meaning.
From my 1997 collections to my “Solfege Family Collection” (once featured at the world-renowned Musical Instrument Museum gift shop) and Cowboys and Instruments Collection, I have been fortunate to gain recognition as one of the most captivating artists of the 21st century. The Cowboys and Instruments Collection, Country Critters Collection, and many other country-related pieces are featured in retail stores throughout the West. These popular series’ awarded me the opportunity to be the featured artist of the annual Festival of the West in Scottsdale, AZ in 2013.
Recently in the summer of 2016, I added another dimension to my artistry when artist Randall Hedden of Tribute Art Live asked me to come alongside him and learn the craft of speed painting. With this skill, I create famous portraits or familiar scenes, to the sound of lively music in ten minutes or less, live and in front of large audiences. Sometimes these events are for pure entertainment. Generally, these events are for charity fundraisers where an auctioneer sells the work immediately after the show. Collectively, I have been fortunate to participate in raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for several local charities, as well as national ones, at venues like the Celebrity Theater and the Scottsdale Culinary Arts Festival. My favorite speed painting show thus far is the “Highwaymen Show,” where Hedden and I paint all four portraits of the country singing outlaws in fifteen minutes to tracks of their legendary music.
My love for country and western things stems from my affinity for the outdoors, camping, fishing, riding horses, and other childhood memories with my family in Idaho, Montana, and Nevada. I also enjoy traveling and am greatly inspired by music (especially country music, country dancing, and country musicians). You will see that in all of my work exists some kind of musical suggestion, even if the subject matter is different. Above all, faith, love, and helping others are the most important.
So far, I have managed to keep my dream alive but not without a fight. The painful condition, called endometriosis, affects over 176 million women worldwide, including me. 30-40% of these women cannot have children and suffer from EXTREME pain! Therefore, a part of all the proceeds from my art sales is donated to support the Endometriosis Association, a charitable organization dear to my heart. You can read more about endo and my story by clicking here. If you have a charity and are interested in receiving donations through the sales of my artwork or live speed painting events, please click here.
Much of the artwork I create is also available on decorative gift items such as pillows, blankets, coasters, mugs, note cards, clothing, and much more! Decorating any environment KVK style is a beautiful way to enhance your décor and invest in your future. I welcome custom artwork on canvas, large murals, and any other idea that you may have in mind. I wholesale my work to retail outlets and license my images to those who qualify. Wholesale and licensing inquiries may be directed here.
Conclusively, I am also certified by the Joe Blasco Makeup School in Hollywood, CA. Here, I learned the craft of beauty makeup, as well as special effects makeup including prosthetics. I have done makeup for several famous athletes and acclaimed actors. My work has appeared on popular stations such as FOX. ABC, and ESPN. I still enjoy accepting makeup opportunities for film, television, print, weddings, Halloween, and special events. If you would like to inquire about booking me for your own makeup needs or see pictures of the work I have done, click here. Whether a job involves painting or makeup, my goals remain the same- produce quality work and exceed my clients’ expectations.
