Akiko Graham is a sought-after, one-woman show. Her handmade stoneware tableware— either wheel thrown or slab built —can be found in dozens in restaurants and her unique touch can be seen in each piece. Originally from Hokkaido, Japan, she personally produces each item from her Seattle-based studio. While her style has inspired ceramicists around the world, when you pickup a piece by Akiko you’ll familiarize yourself with her style and actually feel it’s an original. And, if you're lucky enough to get on this ceramicists waiting list, your tableware will last!
Q&A

What do you want people to do or feel when they encounter your creations?

"I hope that my pottery can be a part of the lives of the people who own it. Ideally it becomes an effortless but essential aspect of their lives, just like the air they breathe."

Q&A

What’s unique about your work?

"I bring my Japanese heritage into my work to create unique pieces of stoneware pottery. I think of it as Japanese influenced, simple, tableware. I wouldn’t consider it traditionally Japanese, but inspired by their tradition with my own bespoke style."

Q&A

How do your pieces come to life? Tell us one interesting thing about your creative process?

"I often find that a glass of wine is a great igniter of creativity for me. It is often the first ingredient to a night of making pottery."
