Fiber artist using her painting background to create landscapes
My interest in the arts began at a young age. Being inspired by creatives my whole life, I decided to pursue a degree in fine art and received my BFA in Studio Art in 2009. It would take another seven years for me to discover fiber arts. Since then I have established myself as an original textile artist, producing woven wall art for clients across the country. I draw inspiration from my travels and the vibrancy of nature. My process challenges me to take the colors and textures I see out in the world and explore new ways to make them home again in my work.
I approach each piece like a painting. I begin with a simple base coat of colors and from there I layer in different shapes, textures and intricate details. Each piece is created in my home studio in Brookfield, WI and is made with natural materials purchased from local small businesses to ensure the highest quality. Investing in unique, high quality materials is very important to my work and it allows me to support my community and fellow creators.
