Item details

A perfect marriage of rectilinear and curvilinear design, the Stadia Tea-Box is at the intersection of art and function. The box itself is made from stunning highly figured air dried New England Black Walnut. The lid is hand engraved with a pyrographic illustration of Japanese Cherry Blossoms and a hammered brass moon, and features Copper Pig Signature Plaid on the inside of the lid. It is deliberate touches like this that set heirloom pieces apart from the more common. The interior compartment is multi-functional with storage for both teabags within the brass/wood divider system and loose-leaf tea within the 3 custom Stadia boxes. Hand made brass pulls on the Stadia boxes match the brass dividers in the teabag storage area, uniting the ensemble. Finished in shellac, approximate dimension 12”L x 8”W x 4” H

Copper Pig Woodworking features the work of Paul Jasper, Ph.D., with a focus on functional art & design translated through wood

l began woodworking in 2005 after buying my house and becoming fast friends with my ~80 yr. old neighbor, and first woodworking mentor, "Hal". Through his generosity, Hal introducing me to many of the fundamentals of woodworking, and set me on a journey to become a more educated and capable craftsman.

Over the next decade, I continued to refine my craft, project by project, and via classes at Boston's prestigious furniture making schools including The Furniture Institute of Massachusetts and The North Bennett Street School. Thereafter, I began apprenticing with a full-time maker and restorer, Freddy Roman, which brought my education to the next level and also integrated me into the regional fabric of professional furniture makers in New England.

More recently, I have again refocused my efforts toward unique art and design, translated through the medium of wood. This has manifested in a wide variety of unique home decor items including sushi boards, tea boxes, serving boards, watch boxes, etc... It brings me deep personal satisfaction to know the pieces I make bring small moments of joy to their owners and become loved family heirlooms.
